This article aims to analyze the relationship between financial education and accounting
decision-making among microenterprise entrepreneurs through a review of recent scientific
literature. The study is based on the recognition that microenterprises play a fundamental
role in job creation and in the dynamization of local economies, but they also face limitations
associated with informality, insufficient administrative training, and restricted use of
accounting information for business management. Methodologically, a literature review was
conducted based on references obtained through Elicit, selecting relevant studies on financial
education, financial literacy, accounting literacy, financial behavior, business performance,
and microenterprise management. The analysis of the reviewed studies made it possible to
identify that financial education contributes to strengthening capacities related to income
and expenditure planning, budgeting, cash flow management, cost evaluation, pricing, access
to financing, and tax compliance. Likewise, the literature shows that a higher level of financial
knowledge favors more rational, timely, and sustainable decisions, while insufficient
competencies increase the risk of administrative errors, inadequate use of resources, and
weaknesses in accounting management. Similarly, research gaps were identified regarding
the specific link between financial education and accounting decisions among
microenterprise entrepreneurs, especially in Latin American contexts. It is concluded that
financial education constitutes a strategic factor for improving the quality of accounting
decisions, strengthening business management, and contributing to the sustainability and
competitiveness of microenterprises.
